WHY I DO THIS WORK

About Me

Before joining the world of behavioral health, I was building analytics and decision‑making systems at a large university over a decade ago. I then got recruited into a 500‑person community behavioral health center to help the C‑suite use data to actually run the place.

There, I built their first analytics department, helped the CEO pick the top five priorities each quarter, and mentored leaders through the hard work of fixing access, billing, clinical workflows, EHR implementation, systems interoperability, clinical outcomes, staff recognition – and more. I was invited to join the Open Minds Advisory Board and to speak at their retreats.

Then I went to Amazon Web Services to help build and scale a new cybersecurity organization – designing operations, go‑to‑market for early AI/security services, and the frameworks for taking ideas → pilots → real adoption.

When I came back to behavioral health conferences years later, we were still talking about the same problems. The workforce was more burned out, the tech had leapt forward, and most orgs were still 10 years behind in how they ran.

That frustration, seeing leaders and staff stuck in the same patterns, is why I:

  • Wrote The Behavioral Health Fix – to put a short, practical guide in the hands of leaders

  • Came back full‑time to this field – to help exec teams build simple, disciplined ways of running growth and change

  • Share as much as I can for free – so even if we never work together, you can still use what I’m learning with other orgs through podcasts and LinkedIn

And I work hands‑on with a small number of organizations each year to solve hard, long‑stuck problems and build the capacity so they don’t come back.

My moonshot goal is to help our industry – and leaders in provider organizations – move past the status quo we’re stuck in. And my plan is to do that by helping as many leaders and organizations as I can.
